Engagement Sessions
Engagement Sessions are awesome! And were not just saying that- we really mean it. If you don’t believe us ask anyone who’s even had a session with us. There will be no other photo session quite like this I assure you. We will run, we will play, we will get a little dusty and a little creative and in the process we will get to know each other and prepare you for your wedding day photos like nothing else ever could. Oh and if your groom is a little camera shy (happens more often anyone likes to admit) this gives him a chance to see that taking photos isn’t all that horrible and maybe even enjoyable.
And lets just mention that there are a million uses for your engagement photos- try some cool Save-The-Date magnets, how about a Wedding Day Guest Book or maybe Table numbers with your awesome selves proclaiming your love for each other on every table at your dream reception!
Now that we convinced you this is the right move lets talk about the details
Location
We are happy to suggest a location for your photos, but there are some things to consider. If you are choosing a popular location during the peak of season you will be competing with crowds- so choose wisely. A location that holds a special meaning to you both will bring so much more meaning to your photos- so that should always be your first consideration.
Wardrobe
Lets face it, a smartly coordinated couple will win favor with us every time. We recommend two outfits, with a type of evening wear for your second outfit as we usually like doing engagement photos closer to sunset or sunrise and the photos take on a more passionate compelling form toward the end and the right outfit can really knock it out of the ballpark! Choose 3 or 4 colors that work well together and look for outfits in those tones and colors for you both. Please don’t try to match, please… pretty please.
If you are having a themed photos session that is the most important factor to consider when choosing clothing. Whether it is a country rustic romance, a spring fling or a picnic in a field of flowers – your clothes should fit your theme and you should coordinate with each other.
But you cannot go wrong with flowy/romantic skirts on the ladies accessorized with fun belts, scarves and unique jewelry. Be sure the clothes are properly fitted and free of wrinkles- items that are too big or too tight don’t photograph well. Gentlemen should avoid sneakers- unless they work to improve the outfit in some fashion- like a pair of Converse or Vans. But unless you know how to make a fashion statement with those its best avoided all together. Solid or near solid colors without loud prints or patterns look great, think texture! Logos should generally be avoided as well. And you can’t really go wrong with a button down shirt or a nice polo- and if you’re into those trendy vests- bring it on.
Oh and as if anyone ever need a good excuse for a mani/pedi this is it.
